The Women’s Walk Project is facilitated by Kym Pitman

Kym Pitman
Kym first walked into the Guy Fawkes gorge country (Yarramericana) in 1991. It was so deeply inspiring that the next thirty five years have seen her crafting a fluid facilitation that helps to bring people, young and older, to a sense of belonging and interbeing in wild places. Much of this work has taken place in the folds and plains of the wild and beautiful Guy Fawkes River valley
Kym is an educator in Creative Arts and Wild Place and a student of mindfulness and meditation. She has completed a PhD in Wilderness and Education, re-searching in depth, the pedagogy of wild places along with the traditions and contemporary possibilities of Rite of Passage. In line with her research, Kym developed the Bellingen Wilderness Youth Theatre. In 2012 Kym and her daughter, Jemah Schmidt initiated the Women's Walk Project.
As a poet and singer/songwriter renowned for her songs of wild country, Kym always brings a guitar and a swag of pertinent songs to the camp fire.
‘Transitional Journeys’ has been endorsed by the Traditional Elders of this area and supported by National Parks, local community and by Regional and National Arts Councils.
